Question

Answer

01

Yes

Autism affects so many people and it should be defined specifically in the Bill.  this should not take away from other neurodevelopmental disorders and these should also be referred to accordingly.

02

Not sure

03

Yes

Partly, as diagnoses currently go through the NHS and LAs.  However, this is currently so awful in Wales, with very little support and poor services for diagnosis and post-diagnosis support.  I think that there needs to be other organisations, such as the NAS and other support services, which also carry out the aims of the Bill.

04

Yes

Definitely.  Currently services provided by the LAs and NHS are shockingly bad here in Wales.  There needs to be an authority such as the Welsh Government who can ensure that these organisations are following the Bill and supporting those with autism and

05

The Autism Strategy should be written as quickly as possible and implemented as soon as possible.  There are many children and adults with autism currently suffering with lack of support and terrible services here in Wales. 6 months seems like a long time

06

Again, it should be written as quickly as possible alongside the Strategy and implemented straightaway.

07

I think that this too long.  The Strategy and Guidance should be written together and implemented straightaway - 6 months for everything to be written and implemented seems enough time given how long people have been waiting for this.

08

This should be set out by the Welsh Government and within 2 months and as quickly as possible seems very reasonable.

Maybe not part of the assessment team, bu parental diaries or information and teachers reports or reports from other support agencies involved with the child, should also be considered.  Parents, especially, should be listened to as a key part of the team

12

They may have difficulties interacting socially so unable to ask for the help they need. NHS staff, particularly locum Paediatricians involved with our family, have made it very difficult for our autistic child to get the support he needs.

Also, it may be unclear what support is available.

general information to ensure the Bill is being followed but not personal data

15

It should be written in the guidance.

16

Not sure

In terms of diagnosis times and whether agencies are meeting the requirements of the Bill.  No to data including personal data sharing

17

It should happen all the time.

It should happen constantly given the amount of new-diagnoses and the amount of poor information out there regarding Autism

18

It will be good - we need better services for Autistic people and their families especially in terms of diagnosis (which is terrible in Wales and especially in West Wales; and in terms of support services available.  We also need more awareness.
